As I look at embroidery, I see more and more examples of needlebooks and scissor sheaths. And I start to wonder about how I want to organize my tools. Well, in the book A Fine Tradition: The Embroidery of Margaret Light which I recently got, I saw several projects that looked like they would satisfy my organizational wants. In it she has a project called A Floral-Sprigged Sewing Fold. I really found quite a few of the attributes appealing. However, I've really been on this Elisabetta Sforza kick of late and cannot stop doing her oceanic embroidery projects. I ultimately decided to modify this sewing fold, which in my head is a needle fold- go figure!- and make something very similar but with a (California) central coast feel. This means I've been incorporating elements of Margaret Light's sewing fold, Elisabetta Sforza's seascapes, Lorna Bateman's lavender, and Beth Allen's eucalyptus work.
Some in progress pictures!
And the final product!!
