Embroidery Resources

A friend of mine asked me for some resources since she's just starting out. Well, how could I resist sharing something I love so much? So here are some resources I love!

What follows is a categorized list of resources I love. I could give more but these are my top choices!

Embroiderers

Heidi Boyd is a great beginner level artist.

Susan of Downeast Thunder Farm has lovely felt projects.

Jessica Long is a good beginner to intermediate to advanced.

Elisabetta Sforza has enchanted me with her A Sea to Stitch. I have done countless sea themed projects because of her!! And I really hope she makes an acorn book!!!

Chloe Redfern does delightful birds that are easily accessible to beginners.

Lorna Bateman was my gateway into embroidery. I found Heid Boyd's designs delightful but Lorna hooked me!

Mary Corbet is a fantastic resource, and I have found her YouTube tutorials invaluable.

Magazines

I get all my magazines through the library via the Libby app! ♥♥♥

Inspirations is my all time favorite- hands down, no contest! I looooooooooooove them so!!!

Love is a lovely magazine with really accessible projects!

Stitch is also a lovely magazine with really accessible projects!

Books

A-Z of Wool Embroidery edited by Sue Gardner

♥♥♥Embroidered Country Gardens by Lorna Bateman

Embroidery by Lucinda Ganderton

A Fine Tradition The Embroidery of Margaret Light

Foolproof Flower Embroidery by Jennifer Clouston

In a Wheatfield by Elisabetta Sforza

Paint with Thread by Emillie Ferris

♥♥♥A Sea to Stitch by Elisabetta Sforza

I didn't include any links to the books because as far as I know they are all still in print and you'll have to decide who you like to buy books from. I have gotten many of mine from Needle in a Haystack which is a California store that I have never visited but is very good about shipping! If I lived in Australia, I'm sure I would get them from Inspirations Studios because I'm so in love with them! I've also gotten some at JoAnn's.

Newsletters

All Stitched Up by Inspirations appears in my inbox every Friday morning and officially brightens my every Friday!!! Thank you so much!!

Gathered is a great British website with all kinds of crafting- embroidery, knitting, crochet, quilting, papercrafts, sewing, etc., and they have a plethora of newsletters that you can get and I find them delightful! They also have lovely magazines such as Love.

Online Courses

Domestika has a lot of courses and a lot of sales! And I have really enjoyed the courses I've taken with them. You get to keep accessing them and you can go as slowly or as quickly as you want. I really like the quality of the videos and feel like they are a really great way to take an online course.

ThreadWritten is also a great source for courses. Sarah is a delightful and thoughtful person. She has both online courses and tours she guides. I've really enjoyed her classes and talking to her.

Online How-To Overview
