During the early days of the pandemic, felt was my happy medium... Here are some of my felt projects! :D
I took a naturalist class and got mesmerized by birds because of the class. Wandering around the web like a crazed birder found myself on this really cool downeast webpage... Having grown up in New England made me all natsukashi (ęćć) and I feel such kinship with Susan of Downeast Thunder Farm's designs!! Check out her site for even more amazing designs and lots of fun fun fun felt projects!!
On a field trip with my naturalist class I saw my first (and second and third!!!) bald eagle in real life! It was AMAZING! So I was inspired to use Susan's bald eagle pattern!!
For my naturalist class we need to take field notes and so I made a little felt book bag... It's kinda weird but I like it!!
This design I saw online and did my best to copy it.
Here you can see my field journal popping out!
I got super into making gnomes! These are my felt gnomes- though I didn't start with felt... I did use Dani Miller's Benzie designs for inspiration.
Christmas ornaments lead to Christmas ornaments...
To more Christmas ornaments!
I found a Joann's felt stocking pattern and made many, many of them but this one is a bit of a variation because I strung them together to be a wall hanging.
For Valentine's Day I made this cute conversation hearts!!I needed a little bag and so I made this bag. No pattern- just me riffing on my felt!! (That sounds pretentious! Sorry!) I sewed tons of seed beads on it because I loved the look of it!! I lined the inside of the bag so that the threads wouldn't get rubbed by whatever I put inside. I sewed the zipper in with my sewing machine but then added some hand embroidery onto for a better look.
I've recently started a new Benzie Design project- Halloween Candy Corn! Fun fact: I don't know what candy corn looks like! I took the pattern and cut the felt out without consulting the delightful instructions. I just thought I knew what they looked like! Why wouldn't I? I've eaten them! They're ubiquitous! Everywhere you go in the US at Halloween- there they are! They're omnipresent! Yeah, so I know now! (But for how long? Maybe not long... I don't know! Only time will tell! hahaha!)
Here they are cut out...
