For October I'm working on the Kallstroemia californica also known as Caltrop. These tiny flowers are made up of 5 petals, usually rounded or oval in shape. The petals are around 1/8 inch long and an orange-yellow color. This cutie is native to the southwestern deserts of California and Northern Mexico.
Here's the plan:
Colors: DMC 307, 310, 907, 972, 3364, & 3774
Petals (A): Satin Stitch- 2 strands of 972
Anthers (B): French Knots- 3 strands of 307
Stamen (C): Covered Stem Stitch- 2 strands of 907
Sepals (D): Stem stitch- 1 strand of 3774 and 1 strand of 3364
Stem (E): For the Primary Stem: Stem stitch- 2 strands of 3774 & for the Secondary Whipped Stem: 2 strands of 3364 for the stem stitch and 2 strands of 3774 for the whipped portion
Name: Backstitch-
2 strands of 310
Box: Split stitch- 2 strands of 310, but maybe you want to save this for after you've completed more months to get a nice even stitch across months...
