Recent Projects

It's been awhile since I posted the projects I've been working on. It's funny because it doesn't seem like it's been that long and yet, the number of projects indicates that, yes, yes it has been!!

My latest completion of my mom's 40-year-old UFO. She got a Vogue embroidery pattern (Vogue Patterns 1754 St. Nick Knacks) and had prepared three stockings and even embroidered one. I then embroidered the other two and completed all three. If you would like a little more info on this project, check out the ornaments.

I decided to make a little cartonnage for my husband's uncle. He loves art and cats, so when I saw this Indoor Cat Studio pattern, I felt it was a perfect match. I decided I wanted to flesh out the picture a little more than the original, so I used a picture of van Gogh's Sunflowers to get some more details. My friend, Torey, suggested I use a Sharpie to paint the water onto the fabric. That was fun and easy.

I always feel my threadpainting technique needs work, so I made these utensil rolls as a way to improve my threadpainting. I was inspired by Love Embroidery for this design. In issue 41 they have a threadpainting tutorial.

My friend visited from Norway, so I thought I should make her a little something. I took an old sarong that was in great condition but that I hadn't used in a decade or more and embroidered Elisabetta Sforza's acorn monogrammed T on each side.

In my little town there's an icon water tower so I did this little cartonnage of it.

I haven't done any crewel, but I have wanted to. I just haven't wanted to track down and buy a lot of Appelton wool. This kit by Melbury Hill has always called to me so decision made!

My friend's anniversary is just around the corner so I made this embroidered version of a picture of them and then did a little cartonnage of the project!!!

For Christmas, I decided to embroider this Chloe Redfern cardinal. The idea is I'm going to send this to my friend with a cartonnage kit so that I can get her into cartonnage!! (Yes, a different friend than the one I mentioned above!!)
